ABout Joey
Background
Hi, I’m Joey Dykstra—a fitness professional with a lifelong passion for health, movement, and community. I grew up in Hermosa Beach, California, as part of a big, loving family with four sisters and incredible parents who inspired me to pursue my goals with determination and heart.
Athletics have always been a part of my life. I earned a volleyball scholarship to the University of Southern California, where I graduated in 2012. Highlights of my career include being a 1st Team All-American in High School at Redondo Union, earning a silver medal at the U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships in France, qualifying for my first professional beach volleyball AVP event at 19 years old, and competed on the AVP Tour until retiring in 2014.
After volleyball I struggled with what to do next Because volleyball was my identity for so long, But after i took my first class at soulcycle in 2014 a new dream began. I started teaching at soulcycle in 2015, and that experience ignited my career in teaching fitness, where I discovered my passion for helping others build strength, confidence, and healthier lives. I went on to become an NASM-certified personal trainer, I’ve worked with clients across the country, from Westlake Village to Nashville, Miami, and now Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I live with my amazing wife (married in 2021) and our daughter, born in 2023.
I believe fitness should be accessible, challenging, and—most importantly—fun. Whether you’re just getting started or striving to hit your next goal, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
Let’s work together to help you become stronger, faster, and healthier.
